They contain information on programs, lecture series, budgets, and issues relating to multicultural and minority affairs at Bowdoin. The majority of the records date from Mills' tenure as president of the college, but some were retained by the office from previous administrations. The collection documents the planning and construction of the David Saul Smith Union at Bowdoin College. Material includes subject files of Mark Wethli, the committee Chair, architectural plans and drawings of proposed and actual construction, and samples of materials, finishes and furnishings for the building.
