Scope and Contents

The Reading Files series includes files primarily compiled by the Director of Physical Plant, David N Barbour, for the purpose of circulation within an organization for the sharing of information. The files contain letters, memoranda, meeting minutes, and reports. Topics include planning and management of major construction projects on campus during the period, including athletic facilities, Hatch Science library, and others, as well as ongoing maintenance projects and policies and procedures for the internal management of the department. There is recurring communication regarding asbestos abatement, energy conservation, and responses to weather related issues on campus. Annual inspection reports of fraternity housing is also included. The files contain a great deal of detailed information about the maintenance and management of the college’s buildings and grounds.
