Biographical/Historical Note
Facilities Management was renamed in the fall of 1994 from its previous title, Physical Plant. Facilities are responsible for the general maintenance of the properties of the College. The department is divided into several smaller sections including Electrical, Environmental, Grounds, Housekeeping, Mechanical, Paint, and Power Plant. Their records portray the daily ongoings of the departments, the majority of which during the period prior to their renaming.

Abstract
Records of Facilities Management services who are responsible for maintenance of campus property, including housekeeping, grounds, and electrical.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
The collection was transferred over by the department starting in 1999.
Separated Materials
Duplicate published material and copies of architectural plans were removed and discarded. A copy of the Lewiston Daily Sun from August 29, 1964, that was found during the renovations of Searles science building in the 1990s was also removed but microfilm copies can be found at the Maine State Library and the Library of Congress.
Within the Reading Files series, certain files included non-permanent personnel correspondence relating to searches, leaves of absence, and disciplinary matters. These non-permanent records, which were outside their retention period, were removed from the files and confidentially destroyed. Several letters between the director and the college’s outside counsel, which would be covered by attorney-client privilege, were separated from the files and transferred to the Legal Officer of the college for review and disposition.
