The Bowdoin Jewish Association, which became the Bowdoin Jewish Organization (BJO) was established in February 1968 in order to provide Jewish religious, cultural, and social opportunities for Bowdoin students. In 2002 the BJO became the Bowdoin Hillel after affiliating with the national Hillel organization in Washington D.C.
