The Realia series includes two cups and saucers from dining. One set was a gift from Harriet Bridge, the granddaughter of Charles Pennell (class of 1892) and one was a part of the set of dishes which were used at Bowdoin College when Longfellow and Hawthorne were students. The College later sold these dishes. Some were bought by a woman in Brunswick who later gave this cup and saucer to Warren Oscar Plimpton of the Class of 1882 whose daughter gifted the set to the college.

"This cup and saucer were a part of the set of dishes which were used at Bowdoin College when Longfellow and Hawthorne were students. The College later sold these dishes, and some were bought by a lady in Brunswick who gave this particular cup and saucer to Warren Oscar Plimpton of the Class of 1882. This cup and saucer were recently presented to the College by his daughter, Miss Harriet Plimpton" [10 July 1978: no saucer rec'd when the cup came over from the President's office]
