Letters to Pauline Root from her father, mother, and brothers, 1903-1938, though letters from friends and miscellaneous letters are included. Pauline's father wrote to her while he was away at mining sites and her family wrote to her when she was in New York City with her aunt and uncle. Many of the letters from her mother are to Pauline as a young woman and in the early years of her marriage. There are also three diaries and a poetry notebook kept by Pauline while she was in high school. The diaries tell about family, friends, school, and social activities.
