Series Description:
The earlier correspondence in this series is related to Van Cleve's military service, particularly efforts prior to World War II on Van Cleve's part to be reinstated in Military Intelligence at his previous rank. More extensive military materials can be found in series M230.2. The remaining correspondence deals predominantly with either Van Cleve's retirement from teaching in 1954 or with the publication of Van Cleve's book, The Emperor Frederick II of Hoenstaufen: Immutator Mundi, in 1972.
