Subjects include a variety of topics that are also found in other series. The most significant issues are fishing concerns, the environment, including Superfund and hazardous waste disposal as well as the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts, the federal deficit, shipping issues, especially concerning Bath Iron Works, and health care. Also covered are topics such as nuclear arms control, the Iran/Contra hearings, economic development, education financing in Maine, and campaign reform. Farming, especially the situation of Maine potato farmers during the potato blight of 1994, is detailed.
