Description:

When Senator Mitchell became majority leader in 1989, his office began to keep a separate file series for the increasing volume of correspondence with other senators and Senate leaders. Subjects include routine thank yous, discussion of legislation, offers of support, and praise for accomplishment. Many of the letters preserved in the Mitchell Papers V.I.P. notebook come from this series.
