Contains photographs, correspondence, legal briefs, printed material, and guest books created during Mitchell's early political career, including his work as an attorney in the anti-trust division of the Justice Department, an aide for Senator Edmund Muskie, a committeeman from Maine for the National Democratic Party, a U.S. attorney for the district of Maine, and a U.S. federal judge. In addition there are Mitchell family photographs, Mitchell's high school yearbook and diploma, his college fraternity photograph, and an autobiographical paper he wrote in the eleventh grade. Mitchell's student transcripts are found in the U.S. Senate Office Administration Records Special Subject Files.
