Abstract Pierre Garcelon (1685-1772) was a Catholic priest in the diocese of Clermont, France, who later renounced his faith to become a rector of the Episcopal Church at St. Pierre du Bois on the Isle of Guernsey in the English Channel. Pierre's son James immigrated to Maine, and his great, great grandson was Maine Governor (1879) Alonzo Garcelon (1813-1906, Bowdoin 1836).
