The Forum, with the byline "Bringing the World to Bowdoin College," was published in newspaper format from 1992-1993. In 1997, The Bowdoin Forum, also edited by Bowdoin Students and published under the auspices of the College, began as an annual journal of international affairs, accepting submissions from Bowdoin students, faculty, and alumni. After the Spring 2008 issue, the Bowdoin Forum ceased publication.

The Bowdoin Review or TBR was established by Bowdoin students and faculty in 1984 as an essay magazine for non-fictional subjects. Contributions were solicited from Bowdoin students, faculty and persons no affiliated with the College.

The Disorient was a broadside described in various issues as biweekly, bimonthly, or fortnightly, with the byline "skepticism, vigilance, and occasional sarcasm." Articles chiefly concerned international affairs, foreign policy, politics, and social issues.

The first issue, February 6, 1980, described To the Root as a political newsletter sponsored collectively by the Afro-American Society, the Bowdoin Energy Research Group, the Bowdoin Women's Association, and Struggle and Change. From late 1983 through 1995, the format of the publication changed several times and the publication was attributed to Struggle and Change, a student organization committed to increasing political awareness in the Bowdoin College community.
