This collection contains ownership history and environmental history of the property that became the Coastal Studies Center, as well as reports with recommendations for the use of the property as a Coastal Studies Center. Also included are the annual reports of the Coastal Studies Center beginning with the first annual report, 2001-2002, as well as brochures, maps, and other printed material.

Biographical/Historical Note

The Coastal Studies Center (CSC), founded in 1998, is on Bowdoin College's Thalheimer property, Orr's Island, Maine. The facilities, research support and co-curricular programming offered in this coastal setting encourage student and faculty research on coastal issues and enhance multi-disciplinary courses.
