Biographical/Historical Note

The Department of Film Studies at Bowdoin College introduces students to the techniques, history, and literature of film in order to promote an understanding of both the vision and craft of film artists and the views of society and culture expressed in film. A major in cinema studies is not offered at the college, but students can obtain a minor by completing 5 courses from a wide scope of subject material relating to film. The courses offered focus on both film within and outside the U.S.A in order to expose multiple cultural views and expressions through cinema.
