Biographical/Historical Note
The Student Aid Office upholds the college’s promise to seek excellence and provide an equal opportunity for all its students. The office practices a need-blind admission, which emphasizes that ability to pay for a Bowdoin education is not part of the decision to admit a student. Since January 18, 2008 the college has implemented a no-loan policy, effectively eliminating loans for all students receiving financial aid and replacing the loans with grants from the college. This commitment to meet the full-need of every student has allowed students from all socioeconomic backgrounds to attend the College.
