Biographical/Historical Note
Acting on a suggestion of the Professional Development Committee of the Bowdoin Administrative Staff (catalog #1.32) in September 1989, Caroline Garcia, Director of Personnel, appointed members to the newly-formed Support Staff Advocacy Committee (SSAC). In a subsequent change, members are appointed by the Committee. The purpose of the Committee remains unchanged, serving as a liaison to the Director of Personnel/Human Resources, and identifying needs and concerns of support staff, the hourly employees of the College. To provide staff development activities for support staff, seminars also known as the SSAC Spring Fling, are sponsored by the Committee one day during the College's spring break.
