Scope and Content
Family correspondence of the Shepherd and Crie families of Rockland, Maine, and letters from Almon Shepherd, a Wisconsin settler, to Flora Shepherd. The Crie family letters are chiefly from Hiram Crie to his son, Anson. The bulk of the Shepherd family letters is from William Shepherd to his wife, Flora, and concern their children, finances, and other matters of everyday life. Miscellaneous Shepherd family correspondence is also included.

Biographical/Historical Note
Hiram H. Crie lived in Rockland, Maine, and wrote to his son, Anson Crie, with fatherly advice. William W. Shepherd, his wife, Flora E. Hall Shepherd, and their children, Albert and Ida Shepherd also lived in Rockland, Maine. William Shepherd, out of economic necessity, worked in Massachusetts. During his absence from home he wrote to his wife about their children, finances, and other matters of everyday life. Almon Shepherd wrote from his home in Chelsea, Wisconsin.
