Scope and Content
The collection contains correspondence between Donald and Miriam MacMillan, and between the MacMillans and Mr. and Mrs. Moses and Washburn, among others. It also includes diary excerpts from Donald MacMillan (1917, 1925, 1928, 1937-8, 1942-5, 1947-50, 1954, 1957), publications, copies of lectures, newspaper articles, material on Donald MacMillan's 1967 Washburn Award, on Miriam's membership in the Explorer's Club, and on the Schooner Bowdoin; and book manuscripts written by Donald MacMillan.

Biographical/Historical Note
Dr. Edward K. Morse accompanied Donald MacMillan on his 1947 expedition. Upon MacMillan's death in 1970, his wife, Miriam Look MacMillan, went to live with Dr. Morse and his wife. Morse, the executor of Miriam MacMillan's estate, donated the collection to the College in 1995.
