This collection contains miscellaneous materials about Bowdoin alumni, faculty, and governing board members. These materials are letters, journal notes, and class notes created by the subjects David Sewell, John Appleton, John Neal, Frederick Pike, and John Chapman.

Papers of Bowdoin alumni, faculty, and governing boards members, including students diaries and class notes.Those featured are: John Neal, an honorary member of the class of 1822, John Appleton, a member of the class of 1834, Frederick Augustus, a member of 1839, and Henry Chapman, a member of the class of 1866 and later a faculty member. Finally, David Sewell was a governing board member in the early days of Bowdoin College.
