Scope and Content
The Phillips Mason papers date from 1911 to 1958 and measure 1 linear foot in 2 boxes. The papers are arranged in two series: Course Materials and Professional. Course materials consists of notes and lectures on various philosophical topics, including ethics, psychology, and the history of philosophy. The Professional series covers Mason’s professional involvement, including his writings, correspondence, and notes for his 1940 book "The X of Psychology."

Biographical/Historical Note
Phillips (Mortimer) Mason was born on March 19, 1876, in Boston, MA. He was a professor of philosophy at Bowdoin from 1920 to 1946, and the author of "The X of Psychology" (1940). He died on July 22, 1957, in Brunswick, ME.
