Biographical/Historical Note
The Bowdoin Scientific Review began publishing its volumes on alternate weeks in the early 1870s. Its purpose was to advertise a medical education at the Maine Medical School and to publish the writings of physicians on medical discussions and advances. Journals would include a list of professors, their specialties, and the tuition cost by term as well as interesting discussions of anatomy and body functionality.
