Biographical/Historical Note

The Bugle is the college yearbook. In 1858 a group of four students published the first Bugle, a small pamphlet providing official information and editorials about the college. The Bugle has gone through many changes since its first publication. During the 1880s photographs were introduced and complimented the primarily text-based documentary of the school year. In the early 1920s the introduction of candid photographs gradually led to the replacement of a primarily textual record with a visual record of the year's events. Until the 1940s and the beginning of WWII, the Bugle was published by the junior class for the senior class. After a short lapse in publication, the senior class took over the responsibility of producing their own yearbook. The Bugle is created and published by students. As of 2013 the Bugle ceased print publication.
