Series Description:

Records include subject files, reports, speeches, letters and other records of political events and legislative business, 1935-40; many of the files from this period were transferred to his U. S. Senate office in 1941 (series M200.5). These files relate mostly to the committees on which he served; they cover industries such as agriculture and fisheries, issues such as public utilities and old age pensions, and pre-World War II subjects such as naval affairs and anti-Japanese propaganda. Also included are records of the campaigns of 1936, 1938 and 1940. Undated material from any series is filed at the beginning of that series.
