Correspondence: 1820-1822
Scope and Content
The Ichabod and Samuel Plaisted letters date from 1819 to 1831. The letters are primarily correspondence between the four Plaisted Brothers -- Ichabod, Samuel, John, and James. They discuss life at Bowdoin, popular literature, money, and family matters. Ichabod describes in detail his fatal illness and some of the treatments he tried. One of Samuel's letters refers to his theological studies at the Andover Seminary. Also included in the collection are several brief biographies of the Plaisted brothers written by their descendants.
