Series Description:

Correspondence (1819-1887) between Hawthorne's family members and friends. Correspondents include, Sophia Hawthorne, Nathaniel's wife; Hawthorne's aunt Mary Manning; his mother Elizabeth C. Hathorne; and Horatio Bridge, a friend and classmate at Bowdoin College. There are no letters to or from Nathaniel Hawthorne in this series.
