Series Description:
Contains Hall's correspondence, 1958-1992, primarily with Bowdoin College administrative staff, but also with Bowdoin alumni. Topics include: age discrimination amendments to the U.S. employment act, 1977; Bowdoin merit increase salary policies and tenure principle revision, 1979; his retirement and his class's 50th reunion with his participation in the program, 1983-85. Other than Bowdoin College presidents and deans, his primary correspondent is his former student, George Packard (Bowd. 1954), a writer. Correspondence with publishers and readers about specific works is filed in the series pertaining to those works. The correspondence concerning Hall's play "Heyday for Ids" includes a letter from the actress Joanne Woodward.
