Manuscript and published material written by James Stacy Coles including his 1941 Columbia University dissertation various non-scientific writings, and published articles. The typescript of "Physical Principles of Chemistry," by R. H. Cole and J. S. Coles, as well as drafts, figures, notes, problems, and other material used in preparation of this textbook comprise the bulk of the series. In addition, there is correspondence with the publisher for "Physical Principles of Chemistry" which was published in 1964, reviews of the textbook, and a copy with annotations, additions, and corrections by Coles, as well as an accompanying answer book.
