Bills and invoices concerning the Cleaveland House, 1807
Series Description:
Comprises bank account transaction books, post office receipts, receipts for specimen shipments, invoices from Bowdoin College Board of Trustees, receipts for magazine and newspaper subscriptions, receipts of all purchases both personal and academic, and miscellaneous invoices and receipts. Invoices and receipts from Jackson & May in Brunswick, which was succeeded by Jacob and E.M. Johnson's, account for many domestic items. Also includes an inventory of the Cleaveland estate while Cleaveland was still alive, most notably his book and self-commissioned furniture collections, and invoices concerning the construction and maintenance of the Cleaveland House, many for services rendered by Anthony C. Raymond.
