Consists of correspondence to and from Horatio Bridge, mostly concerning his relationship with Nathaniel Hawthorne and the Hawthorne family. Also included is a small cache of professional letters, including a recommendation from Franklin Pierce for Bridge as a Purser in the U.S. Navy, as well as a number pieces dating from the Civil War and correspondence with Bridge and his publishers.
