Woodbridge, N.C.
Series Description:
Letters, clipped signatures and other signed documents collected by, and many addressed to, Lyman and Edward Abbott. Most are written by 19th century American notables in many fields, including writers, politicians, educators, theologians, entertainers, civil rights leaders, and scientists. As editors of the Christian Union, later Outlook, and the Literary World, Lyman and Edward Abbott were in regular contact with these major figures; many of the letters are taken from that correspondence. The compiler's original indexes to the collection are contained in the first box.
