Series Description:

Consists mainly of correspondence (1800-1928, and undated) within the family. A large portion of the series is comprised of letters to or from Edward, Gorham, or Lyman Abbott. Correspondence to Harriette Frances Abbott from E. [Eleanor] A. Abbott describing life at St. Helen's Hall school in Portland, Oregon. The series also contains correspondence on both the birthday and the death of Lyman Abbott and a volume of materials by and about Benjamin Vaughan. Organized by date. An unpublished chronological listing (item level) of Abbott correspondence, with an alphabetical index of correspondents, and a finding aid for the Vaughan volume are available in Special Collections.
