Series Description:
This series contains material from the Bias Incident Group, a faculty committee founded in 1988. The Bias Incident Group's primary responsibility is to investigate specific racial, sexual or ethnic occurrences and assert the values of the College. Records dating from 1989 include several incident reports, correspondence, and articles on bias issues. Also included in this series are materials from the Student Judiciary Committee from 1950-1962 as well as letters and reports from the Judicial Board to the Bowdoin community dating from 1998. Student Judiciary Committee records include incident reports which required review and possible College disciplinary action. The committee also drafted a policy statement entitled "Rules Governing Student Conduct," which is included in the records.
