Scope and Contents
The Bowdoin series contains administrative and teaching records of Professor Riley’s career at Bowdoin College. Some material was transferred by the Department of Sociology however the remaining records were donated by the Riley family and were kept in the Riley’s house in Brunswick, Maine. The series consists of correspondence, departmental memos and newsletters, faculty personnel files, and administrative notes along with resources used for courses, class notebooks containing handouts, exams, questionnaires, projects, and lectures. The series provides a perspective of the sociology and anthropology department during the 1970s including a selection of sociological surveys conducted by classes and for coursework in the Brunswick area.
