Scope and Contents
Charles Peleg Chander (1835-1862) the son of Charles Parsons Chandler and Sarah Murray Wheeler Chandler, was the newphew of Theophilus and Horace P. Chandler and the grand-nephew of Peleg W. There are also letters regarding the search for the whereabouts of Col. Chandler after the Battle of Malvern Hill, and his death. Other material includes: three photographs of Col. Chandler; an 1862 newspaper clipping of the approach of the Union Armies on Richmond, including a map; and Charles P. Chandler's Civil War journal (May 22, 1861-June 14, 1861).
