This series is divided into three subseries: Letters between John and Dorothy Gould, Family, and General correspondence. The correspondence between John and Dorothy begins just before their marriage in 1932, while John Gould completed his degree at Bowdoin and ends a few years after their marriage following the Gould’s move to their farm in Lisbon Falls, Maine. The subseries Family contains letters from numerous family members, including John and Dorothy’s parents, their children, and grandchildren. The subseries General includes correspondence that were laid in books given to the Library by Gould, which were subsequently removed from the books and put in folders. The folders are arranged in call number order of the book from which the item was removed. There is an alphabetical cross reference by correspondent. Other correspondence concerns life on his Farm in Lisbon, reader response letters from the Christian Science Monitor, and exchanges with publishers.
