Scope and Content
Papers (ca. 1961-2012) of Thomas Cornell including: artwork, professional correspondence; subject files concerning curriculum, teaching, administration, and programs in the visual arts at Bowdoin College; files documenting Cornell’s professional art projects; and information about grants. Papers also include a few original drawings by Cornell, a poem dedicated to Tom Cornell and signed by Anthony Hecht, and a poem (in an edition of 360) signed by May Sarton to Tom and Christa Cornell. Includes drawings made by Cornell of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Bayard Rustin during King's speech given at First Parish Church, Brunswick, Maine, May 1964.
