Various maps and pencil drawings regarding the Jeannette Expedition, perhaps gathered by John P. Jackson

 File — Volume-Folio: 135
Identifier: M118.08.01

Scope and Contents

Contains drawings, notes, illustrations, and maps regarding the ill-fated Jeannette Arctic expedition of 1879-1881. The documents appear to have been gathered or created by John P. Jackson, London correspondent for the New York Herald, who may have been working on an article about the expedition. A note with the papers indicates that the manuscript items were given to DBM at an unknown point in time and remained among his papers.
