Description:
Materials found in Mitchell's 1982 campaign administration files were created between the Muskie Senatorial Campaign of 1975 through 1976 and Mitchell's victory in 1982. The administration records contain subject files, a debate book, schedules, staff memos, endorsements, constituent letters, fund-raising materials, mailings, and polls. Significant issues covered in the campaign administration files include the Emery Campaign; fundraising efforts; Clean Air and Clean Water Acts; the Kassebaum Amendment; the Moffett-Gregg Bill; Dickey-Lincoln; abortion; environmental protection; health care reform; veterans affairs; and nuclear freeze. Staff members whose names frequently appear within these files include among others David Johnson, Larry Benoit [campaign manager], Barbara McGough and Sharon Sudbay.
