GJM February 14, 1994 Bruns./Topsham/SCOTT/Skowhegan
Description:
This series contains chronologically arranged scheduling files from 1986 through 1994. Files contain itineraries, press releases, memos, reports, newsclippings, schedules, briefing notes, and some constituent correspondence, all of which relate to scheduled visits to the Maine midcoast area. Typical events were fundraisers, forums, meetings, schools events, holiday celebrations, dedications, and other public functions. Senator Mitchell maintained an ambitious travel schedule in his home state, including fulfilling a pledge to visit all 137 state high schools. These events were an opportunity to share views with constituents or hear their concerns on subjects ranging from family leave to U.S. involvement in Bosnia. He also met with groups such as the Maine Fisherman's Forum and veterans' groups.
