Files in this series were created from 1985 through 1994. Materials include notes, memos, files from health care hearings, statistical studies, legislative proposals, and background information on many health care topics. Budget information relates to the funding of the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Topics include managed care and other insurance plans and coverage options, disease prevention, lifestyles, individual diseases, health phenomena, treatments, technologies, and other subjects that have an effect on health care spending. All of these issues were examined in the context of producing a budget agreement between the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the White House. Records of previous proposals and budgets are sometimes in the files of later budgets. These files were maintained by Christine Williams.
