Scope and Contents

Iran-Contra Name Files date from 1985 through 1987 and are arranged by witness's last name. They contain documents relating to witnesses' activities during the time of the Iran-Contra affair. These include memos, correspondence, biographical material, "question notes" written by Mitchell, and other evidentiary material directly pertinent to the questioning of witnesses during the investigation. Large amounts of material pertain to Lt. Col. Oliver North, Robert MacFarlane, and Admiral John Poindexter. Notes on testimony of Donald Regan, Edwin Meese, Caspar Weinberger, George Shultz, Albert Hakim, and others are included. Files were maintained by Richard Arenberg.
