Description:

Files were created from 1977 through 1980; some were directly transferred from Senator Muskie's office and covered a wide range of subjects. Clean air and clean water legislation were prime subjects, as were environmental issues relating directly to Maine. Interfiled are some of Senator Mitchell's earliest files, showing the continuity of work between the two offices.
